Assistant VP/Associate Athletic Director for Athletic Development

With Creighton's move to the BIG EAST Conference, it has opened up opportunities to build upon a solid foundation of successful engagement and support of alumni and friends for Bluejay student-athletes. . engage alumni and friends in support of Creighton Athletics and the University. The Assistant Vice President of Development will have responsibility to provide leadership to the Athletic Development team in designing and implementing a full range of development programs that reflect the mission, vision, and strategic goals of Creighton University.  This position will carry his/her own portfolio of Athletics donors with a focus on identifying prospects and soliciting high-end annual gifts supporting Athletics, and manage the operations and team members of the Athletic Development staff. The AVP will work closely with the athletic director and leadership within department to increase opportunities for engagement and support locally and nationally for the Athletic Department. 

The Assistant Vice President of Athletic Development reports directly to the Athletic Director, and the Vice President for University Relations and partners to set division-wide strategy, allocate resources and chart fundraising progress. 

 


Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree is preferred
Minimum 7‐ 10 years' experience of demonstrated, successful fundraising preferred. Comparable experience will be considered.
Demonstrated leadership, delegation, and organizational skills with proven results.   
Proven track record of personal cultivation and solicitation activities.

Proven track record of managing fundraisers and staff towards aggressive fundraising goals.
Experience in higher education and a national campaign environment.
Appreciation and understanding of Creighton University's mission and the ability to effectively communicate it.
Broad knowledge of the principles of fundraising and an ability to participate in all aspects of the gift cycle and the ability to inspire and coach managers to lead their teams to aggressive fundraising goals. 
Excellent written, oral and interpersonal skills required.
Excellent administrative skills required.
Ability to think strategically and quickly summarize complex and detailed information.
Ability to travel nationally for events and prospect visits.
Strong project management skills

Demonstrated understanding and experience of University Athletics Departments including the motivation and development of productive relationships with student athletes, coaches and athletic department personnel preferred.

 Familiarity with fundraising and athletic databases like Advance, Reeher, Advantage, Paciolan and Archtics preferred.  

Demonstrated knowledge of NCAA and BIG EAST Conference guidelines, policies, rules and regulations preferred.
