DEPARTMENT SUMMARY: The Division of Advancement and Alumni Engagement utilizes resources, technology, and business for the purpose of soliciting alumni, donor engagement, donor research, and stewardship throughout Emory University and Health Systems. Our mission is to inspire and steward meaningful, lasting relationships that elevate engagement and giving to fulfill Emory’s mission to serve humanity. The Clinical/Grateful Patient and Medical Research team is responsible for alumni and donor engagement, donor research, solicitation, stewardship, endowments and other school/unit reporting. Winship Cancer Institute, Georgia’s only National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center and serves as the coordinating center for cancer research, education, and care throughout Emory University. They are committed to providing comprehensive programs to treat the whole patient. This position will report to the Associate Vice President of Advancement. 

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction to the fundraising, alumni, and constituent engagement efforts for schools and units within Advancement and Alumni Engagement.
  • Manages a team of senior staff who perform at the highest levels with sustained success in managing individual, leadership, and major gift activity to identify key initiatives for private funding working in close coordination with deans, faculty, physicians, and/or program directors.
  • Manages a portfolio of principal and major gift prospects, works with volunteer leadership groups related to major gift activity, directs the planning for major gift functions, donor recognition and major gift stewardship.
  • Facilitates partnerships with other departments/schools/units within the division and the University.
  • Participates in the advancement strategic planning process, assists in policy making for department-wide initiatives, and may represent the division at university functions.
  • Develops and manages budgets.
  • Some travel is required.
  • Performs related responsibilities as required.

ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS:

In addition to the duties outlined above, the Assistant Vice President may be required to:

  • Meet division metrics for visit preparation, qualification, contact reports, visits, referrals, and accurate coding using the CRM system.
  • Represent the department, school/unit, division, or University.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor's degree and ten years of experience in higher education, development, fundraising, healthcare, non-profit, or related field with a minimum of seven years managing staff.

NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs. Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of department of work. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
