The Assistant Vice President for Finance – Operations reports directly to the Vice President for Finance and is responsible for the financial and budget operations of the Division of Operations. However, for your day-to-day business operations, you’ll report to the Chief Operating Officer and Senior Vice President for Operations. You will provide financial and budget leadership to the division; representing the Division of Operations at the University level in the areas of finance, budget, and business needs while participating in all Division strategies related to finance and business management and business concerns.

Your knowledge and experience will be key to your interpretation of Texas A&M University System (TAMUS) and Texas A&M University (TAMU) regulations, rules, and standard administrative procedures for the Division related to financial matters. You will provide financial oversight and tracking for all construction and renovation projects in the Division of Operations.

You will bring your time-tested knowledge and accounting skills as you serve as advisor to the Chief Operating Officer and Senior Vice President for financial issues as you ensure that financial resources within Operations are budgeted and managed appropriately.

Additional Opportunities to Excel

  • Serves as a strategic partner for the Division of Operations to manage the rate studies housed within the Division in the following units: Transportation Services, Utilities and Energy Services, Safety and Security, and Environmental Health and Safety.
  • Assists with compiling and providing required financial information for the contract with the National Archives and Record Administration pertaining to TAMU services provided in the George Bush Presidential Library and Museum.
  • Provides financial information as requested related to services provided to TAMU by SSC. Assists with preparation of budget reports and other financial information needed by Operations.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

Ten years of progressively responsible financial and budget experience

The well-qualified candidate will have a master’s degree as well as experience as a Certified Public Accountant.
