Minimum Position Qualifications
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in accountancy or related field and fifteen (15) years of accounting/auditing experience, with at least ten (10) years in a responsible management position and previous working knowledge of accounting information systems and technology.
Special Conditions
The department is especially interested in candidates with an advanced degree, such as a Masters and/or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification. Experience in Higher Education is preferred.
Initial screening will begin Monday, April 22, 2024 and will occur each Monday thereafter until a candidate has been selected.
Work Schedule
Monday – Friday
8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
May need to work/travel beyond normal work schedule.

Duties & Responsibilities
Provides management, leadership and oversight to the areas of University and Student Business Services (USBS), Financial Reporting, General Accounting, Payroll and Shared Services and coordinates relevant activities among other Business and Finance areas and other University departments.
Duties & Responsibilities
Directs the planning, execution and delivery of the University’s financial reporting activities to all constituents. Coordinates and implements key professional accounting functions, including financial audits; general ledger, bank and other related reconciliations; planning and preparation of financial reports; and restricted funds and debt management. Performs key research on accounting issues and is responsible for planning functions, including automated information management systems for assigned areas of responsibility. Maintains current knowledge of GAAP pronouncements that affect the University.

Confers regularly with the AVP for Financial Planning and applicable staff and faculty to plan, coordinate, and evaluate financial policies and procedures. Serves on various committees and participates in University-wide planning and coordinating activities. Responsible for updating and improving internal controls and related policies and procedures over accounting processes.

Maintains regular communication networks with all key and applicable parties to ensure timely awareness and response to budgetary and financial information. Provides primary management coordination with external auditors. Remains current with developments and changes in government regulations, court decisions, and higher education practices related to finance, accounting, payroll and directives and policies initiated by the State, Tennessee Higher Education Commission, and the University.
Duties & Responsibilities
Works with the AVP for Financial Planning and the Chief Audit Executive to provide appropriate and meaningful financial information and metrics to the Executive Vice President, COO & CFO for presentation to the Board of Trustees. Prepares presentations for the Board of Trustees and responses to Board inquiries.
