Job Summary
Responsible to the Head Men's & Women's Track & Field/Cross Country Coach for instruction, development, preparation, recruitment and retention of men's & women's track & field student-athletes. Assistant Men's & Women's Track & Field Coach (AMWTFC) will be expected to maintain compliance with UNO Athletics, Southland Conference and NCAA rules and regulations. AMWTFC must adhere to University of New Orleans, UL System and State of Louisiana policies and procedures. AMWTFC will promote the advancement of the University’s vision and support the University’s mission through the process of advancing the men's & women's track & field programs and graduating student-athletes.

Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coaching and Instructing Student-Athletes; Teaching and Preparing Student-Athletes for Competition: 60%

  • Evaluating, Recruiting and Retaining Student-Athletes: 30%

  • Community Outreach & Team Volunteerism Coordination: 10%

Moreover, the Assistant Men's & Women's Track & Field Coach will:

  • Continually promote the University’s mission, vision and accomplishments. 

  • Accept and be attentive to the health and welfare of student-athletes as a primary responsibility. 

  • Assist and support Head Men's & Women's Track & Field/Cross Country Coach with all areas of the men's and women's track & field programs. 

  • Perform additional duties as assigned by Vice President, Athletics & Recreation, his or her designee, and/or Head Men's & Women's Track & Field/Cross Country Coach.   

  • Maintain a current and comprehensive understanding of the University of New Orleans, Southland Conference and NCAA rules & regulations. 

  • Employee shall conduct himself/herself in an ethical manner in accordance with the standards established by the NCAA, University of New Orleans and the State of Louisiana. ​  ​ 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 1-3 years professional experience as a high school, college or professional coach. 

  • Thorough knowledge of and commitment to NCAA compliance and University of New Orleans policies and procedures.

  • Proven ability to build rapport and effective, collaborative relationships with student-athletes, fellow coaches, administration, faculty and alumni.

  • Demonstrated administrative, organizational and recruiting skills and applied experience in these areas. ​​​​

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree.

  • 2-4 years of college coaching experience.
