Job Description

Under supervision of the School Director, this position will perform work of considerable responsibility in administrative services, providing support to School Director and Associate Directors of the School of Earth and Space Exploration. Acts as a liaison to The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, other university units, and outside constituencies.

Salary Range

$49,000 - $65,000 per year; DOE


Essential Duties

  • Manages the Director’s calendar, coordinates and arranges the Director’s calendar to ensure optimal use of time.
  • Schedules meetings.
  • Assists Director with travel arrangements, reimbursements, etc. 
  • Coordinates logistics of faculty meetings, creates schedule of meetings, and organizes faculty retreats.
  • Coordinates the faculty annual evaluation process.
  • Coordinates faculty search visits, travel arrangements, meetings, etc. 
  • Assists with front desk reception, mail distribution, Fedex, receiving, conference room scheduling. 
  • Performs special assignments as instructed by Director. 

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field AND four (4) years experience in an administrative position; OR, Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved.

  • Experience in Higher Education
  • Experience working with ASU APARS processes
  • Knowledge of academic policies, procedures, and organization
  • Knowledge of computer software, including proficiency with Microsoft Office software or its equivalent.
  • Evidence of effective communication 
  • Experience in dealing with a wide range of topics, including confidential and sensitive information. 
  • Experience in maintaining effective working relationships in a diversified population.
  • Experience in analyzing and comprehending complex issues.

Working Environment

Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse. Required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work. Occasional bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 25 pounds.
Regular activities require the ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to the resolution of conflicts. Communicate to perform essential functions.
