Job Summary
Work under the direction of the head coach and assist with the administration of a successful Division I men’s and women’s tennis program. Responsibilities include recruiting coaching, budget analysis, travel planning, and other duties as assigned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist with the recruitment of student-athletes for both the men’s and women’s tennis teams.
  • Assist the head coach with on-court coaching of student-athletes during practices, individual workouts, and games.
  • Assist with team travel plans and budget analysis.
  • Research and evaluate the game plans of opponents.
  • Assist with the monitoring of the academic progress of each tennis student-athlete.
  • Assist with the maintenance of the Tennis Center.
  • Provide administrative oversight and managerial instruction for daily budget operations, recruiting of upcoming student athletes, travel planning, educational clinics and tennis instructional camps compliant with departmental policy.
  • Designing and implementing overall student athlete recruiting strategies to find, analyze, and finalize the admission of student athletes.
  • Assist with promoting and marketing.
  • Consult with assigned sports information staff regarding program preparations and media relations.
  • Assist in the strategic development and/or maintenance of the sport’s social media outlets.
  • Establish and develop relationships with appropriate high school and junior college officials, amateur club coaches, and coaches within the sports national governing body for public relations purposes.
  • Manage, monitor and archive all required program records and paperwork per regulatory requirements (e.g. state, federal and institutional compliance).
  • Assist with other tennis program administrative duties including, but not limited to: research and evaluation of prospective student-athletes while operating within the scope for the WAC and NCAA regulations.
  • Managing program award (letter awards, special achievement awards, etc.).
  • Assisting with the development of schedules.
  • Managing the development of team travel itineraries to promote the health and well-being of student athlete participants, etc.
  • Performs other duties assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration/Management with two (2) years of experience coaching tennis in a college/university setting or two (2) years as a student-athlete participating in college tennis or equivalent relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters in Business.
  • Three (3) or more years of experience coaching tennis in a college/university setting.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Able to demonstrate techniques in training; outdoors, on court and on field.
  • Knowledgeable of and assure compliance with all applicable NCAA, WAC Conference, and University regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills.
