Center for STEM Learning
The Assistant Teaching Professor is a three-year, non-tenure track appointment through May 2022. The Assistant Teaching Professor will teach undergraduate physics and mathematics courses. Working with the Center for STEM Learning, the Department of Physics and Astronomy, the Department of Mathematics, and instructors in these departments and other STEM units on implementation of undergraduate Physics teaching and Physics Secondary teacher preparation as part of the KU Comprehensive PhysTEC Program. The successful candidate must have appropriate authorization to work in the U.S. before employment begins.
The Center for STEM Learning (CSTEM), a unit within the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, is an interdisciplinary collaborative venture to improve science, math, engineering and technology (STEM) education at KU and throughout Kansas, and contribute to scholarship in these areas. Center activities involve scientists, educators and education specialists from both the Lawrence and Edwards campuses. The Center is the home of the nationally acclaimed UKanTeach program, which prepares highly qualified STEM teachers; graduates can be found in classrooms across Kansas and nationally. The work of the Assistant Teaching Professor will be coordinated through the UKanTeach program within the CSTEM. The KU Comprehensive PhysTEC program is a collaboration between CSTEM and the Department of Physics and Astronomy, which has an internationally recognized faculty, strong undergraduate and graduate programs, and a long tradition of excellence in teaching and research.
