Description
The School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences (SMAPS) in the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) at the University of New England (UNE) invites applications for an Assistant Teaching Professor in Chemistry, with a focus in biochemistry, starting in August 2024. The successful candidate will join a collegial, engaged team of faculty and professional staff in a school offering programs in Applied Mathematics, Biochemistry, Biophysics, Chemistry, Computer Science, Data Science, and Laboratory Science.

Responsibilities
The school seeks candidates to teach undergraduate lecture and laboratory courses in general chemistry and biochemistry. The typical teaching load is the equivalent of 12 credits per semester. The successful candidate will demonstrate the capacity for excellence in teaching, and also engage in curriculum development and participate in academic advising, recruiting, course and program assessment, and service to the school, college and university.
Qualifications
A master’s degree in chemistry, biochemistry or a closely related field is required at the time of appointment. Candidates must demonstrate an interest in and commitment to teaching general chemistry and biochemistry to undergraduates. Applicants with expertise suited to the teaching of research-based biochemistry labs and/or courses in other chemistry sub-fields are welcomed.
