Summary

The Department of Applied Sciences invites applications for a full-time, qualified-rank faculty, nine-month renewable appointment for an Assistant Teaching Professor and Program Director specializing in Computer Science Technology with a start date of August 2024.
The Computer Science Technology (CST) program at Bowling Green State University Firelands College is seeking an instructor for their Associate of Computer Science Technology degree. The instructor would be responsible for teaching didactic, laboratory and web-based courses related to Computer Science Technology and will also fulfil program director duties. The CST program and Applied Sciences department are committed to providing an environment that promotes collaboration and multiple opportunities for professional excellence.

Essential Functions

• Teach didactic, laboratory, and web-based courses in information technology, including computer networking and cybersecurity.
• As Program Director, will assess the quality, content, and overall effectiveness of the courses within the program.
• As Program Director, will perform annual program evaluation and related reports on a routine and as needed basis.
• As Program Director, will lead in developing new curriculum and programs to meet the needs of the community.
• As Program Director, maintain a program advisory board and relationships with area employers.
• As Program Director, assist in advising students with their program.


Minimum Qualifications

• Master’s degree (currently or earned as of start date of employment) in Computer Information Systems, Information Technology, or a related discipline; earned degrees from an accredited college or university; and relevant business/work/teaching experience in information technology subjects, especially computer networking and cybersecurity.
• A willingness to obtain a Cisco Networking Academy Instructor certification for CCNA courses within the first year of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
• Demonstrated ability to teach and develop information technology course at the undergraduate level.
• Demonstrated online teaching experience
• Experience with using a leaning management system, especially Canvas, for teaching purposes.
• Possessing industry certification in information technology, computer networking, and cybersecurity (e.g. CCNA, ComTIA, ECCouncil).
