Assistant Sustainability Coordinator

 

The division of Campus Planning+Design+Construction at the University of Cincinnati is seeking to fill the position of Assistant Sustainability Coordinator.  Under the general direction of the University Sustainability Coordinator, coordinate activities with the Associate VP of Facilities and the Executive Director of Utilities to assist with the President’s Climate Commitment Initiative and work on sustainability efforts at the University of Cincinnati.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

 

The work will begin on the Uptown Campus but may expand to other campuses.  The responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Provide support for the University’s sustainability initiatives and work with students, faculty, and staff
  • Provide support to President’s Advisory Council on Environmental Sustainability (PACES)
  • Assist in planning and execution of sustainability-related engagement and outreach events
  • Manage and increase capacity of on-campus garden
  • Attend meetings in support of sustainability efforts as required
  • Assist in maintaining accurate records of sustainability initiatives and accomplishments
  • Assist with developing and maintaining contacts on environmental issues
  • Research initiatives as needed
  • Provide general administrative work and other responsibilities as required

 

Physical Requirements:

 

Working in a garden and picking up recycling; this job requires physical dexterity with extensive periods of standing, walking, pushing, reaching, and digging.  Work involves frequently lifting, carrying, and moving objects weighing 25 - 50 pounds.  The ability to work outside in various weather conditions is necessary.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

Bachelors’ degree with one (1) years’ experience; -OR- Associate’s degree with two (2) years’ experience; -OR- five (5) years’ experience.  Experience must be in program development or business administration.  Experience with student groups desired.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

Some familiarity with sustainability initiatives on university or college campuses preferred.  Experience with gardening and event planning.  Strong oral and written communication skills.  Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Suites, GIS, and Adobe Creative Suite preferred.  Ability to motivate others.
