Athletics

Columbus State University, a Division II member of the Peach Belt Conference invites applications for the position of Assistant Softball Coach. This position will assist the Head Coach and other assistant coaches in performing all duties in compliance with all NCAA, Peach Belt Conference, and Columbus State University rules and regulations.

Significant Duties and Responsibilities: Assistance in planning and hosting prospective student-athlete on campus visits.; Assist head coach in responding to contacts, to include, coaches' mailings, player questionnaires, observing team practices and games, phone calls, recruitment, emails, and admissions contacts; establish and maintain a recruiting database.; Perform phone calls and emails to recruits; attend practices and/or games of recruits.; Build relationships with prospective student-athletes and current athletes.; Assist the head coach with travel by arranging bus and van schedules, pre- and post-game meals, and overnight accommodations.; Plan and conduct Softball camps, clinics, leagues, lessons, and tournaments.; Analyze recruits, current players, and opponents via video.; Assist head coach in monitoring academic progress with study tables, academic meetings, class scheduling, and classroom checks.; Assist players as needed; meet established fund raising goals for the program.; Participate in community fund-raising as coordinated by the Athletic Director.; Selected candidate will also assist the head coach with a daily practice plan; assist in creating and implementing strength and conditioning plans for the program; and all other related duties as assigned.; Performs grounds maintenance and improvements on athletic field. Duties include, but not limited to, dragging playing surfaces, mowing, irrigation operation and repairs, grading and seeding, equipment and vehicle operation, and game day field preparation.

Required Qualifications include: Bachelor's degree in a related field

Preferred Qualifications include: Softball coaching experience at a NCAA Division I or Division II School, success as a player at a Division I or Division II School, or success as a head coach at the high school level is also preferred.

The proposed annualized salary range for this position is $39,253 - 42,784 and includes full benefits.
