Position Overview
The Department of Civil, Environmental, and Architectural Engineering, University of Kansas, seeks an Assistant Researcher with experience in environmental engineering and molecular biology to study the presence of SARS-CoV-2 in wastewater. This position is contingent upon funding. The applicant should be motivated, organized, detail-oriented, work well with others, have a willingness to learn, and participate in many different lab activities.
Job Description
60% Conduct experiments related to ongoing projects in the lab under supervision by senior lab PI. These experiments involve concentrating and extracting RNA from wastewater samples to detect the presence of SARS-CoV-2.
25% Oversee and complete general lab tasks such as solution and media preparation. Oversee general lab organization and cleanliness, oversee lab supply needs, and conduct ordering of laboratory supplies and reagents.
15% Manage the records and generate reports of wastewater collection and SARS-CoV-2 for participating municipalities and relevant partners.
Position Requirements
This position is required to work on-site.
