We are looking for an Assistant Research Scientist, to join our dynamic, innovative Veterinary Medicine Pathobiology department! We envision this individual should have an advanced level of knowledge in molecular biology, virology, cell culture, gene expression analysis and confocal microscopy. This person must also be able to exercise sound judgment, as they will plan and direct certain activities in our research project/s. What you need to know

Required Education and Experience:

  • Appropriate PhD

  • Relevant professional experience

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of molecular biology, virology, cell culture, gene expression analysis and confocal microscopy

  • Excellent organizational, verbal & written communication skills

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others

Preferred Experience:

  • More than three years of postdoctoral research associate experience in the field of poxvirus replication and host interaction, molecular biology

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Skills in poxvirus genetic engineering

Responsibilities:

Research

  • Plan, design, perform, and/or oversees experiments and data collection on viral replication and virus-host interaction.

  • Develop/optimize new assays and protocols to understand virus replication mechanisms.

  • Analyze data.

  • Problem-solve in a timely and successful manner.

  • Work with the principal investigator to develop new research directions.

  • Ensure data integrity, quality control, and protocol compliance.

Laboratory Operation

  • Assist the Principal Investigator for the daily operation of the research laboratory including Train Junior researchers when required.

Communication

  • Scientific Communication: Prepare presentation of results, present results at local and national meetings. Write papers, results, protocols and methods.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
