Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, Center for Advanced Biotechnology and Medicine (CABM) is accepting applications for an Assistant Research Professor (Non-Tenure Track). This position involves studying the disease association and potential therapeutic approaches, function and regulation of simple epithelial keratins and lamins in digestive organs. Our laboratory has demonstrated that mutations in keratins predispose their carriers to progression of acute and chronic liver disease of various etiologies, and has defined the role of keratins in Mallory-Denk body formation. This position entails studying liver, pancreatic and intestinal injury using a wide range of experimental models, isolating primary mouse hepatocytes, pancreatic acinar cells and colonic cell populations, studying posttranslational modifications, particularly phosphorylation and transamidation, and carrying out high throughput compound screening.

This faculty position is grant-funded and is contingent upon the availability of funds to support it.

Minimum Education and Experience

Requires a Ph.D. degree in a bioscience area or a related field with 5 or more years of postdoctoral training with expertise in biochemical, molecular and cell biologic techniques.
