JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Marcus Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering at Penn State is seeking applications for a full-time, non-tenure-line Assistant Research Professor to work on additive manufacturing. The research team focuses on material behavior and its relationship with microstructural characteristics, manufacturing processes, and application environment, which lies at the intersection of experimental mechanics and materials science. The project will involve in-situ materials characterization and analysis with a particular accent on lightweight structural materials and processing.

Qualifications:

The Assistant Research Professor should possess a terminal degree or its equivalent in industrial and manufacturing engineering or a related field by the appointment start date. Alternatively, the Assistant Research Professor without a terminal degree should possess at least a master's degree and must have demonstrated ability as a researcher and evidence of professional growth and scholarship in their discipline. The successful candidate should have a strong record in joining and materials characterization, such as SEM, EBSD, and TEM.
