Position Summary
The Lasagna-Reeves lab, a member of the Stark Neuroscience Research Institute (SNRI) at Indiana University School of Medicine, invites applications for a faculty position at the rank of Research Assistant Professor to develop a project to identify novel proteins and pathways in Alzheimer’s disease.
Pathological aggregation of the microtubule-associated protein tau and the preponderance of neurofibrillary tangles (NFT) or other inclusions containing tau are the defining histopathological features of Alzheimer’s disease and more than 20 other neurodegenerative tauopathies. Therefore, the study of the physiological and pathological function of tau is key to understanding and treating these neurodegenerative diseases. Hence, the main focus of the Lasagna-Reeves Lab is to comprehensively elucidate the role that tau physiology plays in neurodegenerative tauopathies.
The Lasagna-Reeves Lab recently published a study characterizing the role of proteins partners of tau in its stabilization, accumulation, localization, folding, misfolding, and toxicity. To pursue this, the lab combined in vitro structural and cellular techniques with mouse genetic manipulations to determine the effects of these interactors on tau toxicity in neurodegenerative tauopathies. 
The lab is looking for investigators with expertise in molecular biology, biochemistry, Mass Spectrometry analysis, mouse and drosophila behavior, and histological analysis in the context of neurodegenerative diseases. The successful candidate will join an already established team that includes senior and junior scientists as well as postdocs and Ph.D. students who will also be involved in this project.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
·         Responsible for developing an end-to-end project dissecting the role of ta0 aggregates protein interactors.
·         Lead, develop, and troubleshoot specific analyses.
·         Multi-task projects and keep pace in a dynamic research environment.
·         Present research advances at a variety of internal and external seminars.
·         Lead manuscript writing.
·         Direct, coordinate and supervise laboratory personnel.
·         Mentor students and research staff

Basic Qualifications
Doctorate or Terminal degree is required. Must have a Ph.D. or M.D. degree with 4 or more years of postdoctoral experience.
