Job Summary 

The successful candidate will contribute to several JJR&R Lab projects, including an evaluation of a citywide effort to increase access to criminal record clearing, a multi-county evaluation of juvenile diversion reforms, and a large-scale randomized controlled trial (RCT) within the School District of Philadelphia. The successful Assistant Research Professor candidate will also have opportunities to develop their own projects and apply for their own external funding.

Essential Functions 

  • Lead the data and analysis components of three grant projects related to criminal and juvenile legal system reform.
  • Work with project teams, statisticians, and community collaborators to address data and analysis challenges and opportunities associated with conducting research in real-life settings, manage project databases, and interpret results.
  • Collaborate with Principal Investigator to use project findings to generate policy and practice recommendations and disseminate findings.
  • Author/co-author publications and presentations for academic audiences, policymakers, practitioners, and the general public.
  • Contribute to grant applications related to these projects and others related to youth justice reform.
  • Serve as a core member of the JJR&R Lab and collaborate with other lab project teams, which include faculty, staff, graduate students, and undergraduate research assistants.

Required Qualifications 

  • Minimum of a PhD or Doctorate in Psychology, Public Health, Criminology, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience.
  • Candidate should be reliable, attentive to detail, capable of working on multiple projects simultaneously, have the flexibility to deal with the complexities of real-world research, and is eager to work as part of a collaborative team.
  • The ideal candidate will have strong quantitative, writing, and organizational skills and excellent interpersonal skills to successfully collaborate with funders, justice stakeholders, and lab colleagues.

Additional Information 

This is a full-time Faculty position classified as Exempt. The offered salary is based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
