Position Description
The University of Washington's Department of Medicine, Division of General Internal Medicine, is seeking applicants for a full-time (1.0 FTE) faculty position to be based at the University of Washington Medical Center - Northwest (UWMC-NW). This position will include serving as an attending physician on the Hospital Medicine Service at UWMC-NW, teaching of residents and students through attending on clinical service, and generating scholarly works related to medical education.
This position will be at the Assistant Professor rank (without tenure due to funding) on the clinician/scholar pathway. Assistant professors WOT are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service. The anticipated start date would be August 1, 2024.
Salary
The base salary range for this position will be: $15,834 - $17,917 per month ($190,008 - $215,004 annually), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.
Other Compensation
Other compensation associated with this position will include (per 1.0 FTE through UWP) a pay supplement (TPS) of $7,084 per month ($85,008 annually) and a Monthly Additional Compensation (MAC) of $2,917 per month ($35,004 annually) for work on the hospital medicine service. TPS and MAC amounts are based on appointment FTE and clinical FTE (cFTE) at the time of hire.

Qualifications
Applicants must have an MD or DO degree (or foreign equivalent) and board certification* in Internal Medicine (or foreign equivalent) and must be eligible for medical licensure in the state of Washington.
Eligible candidates must have an established record of at least one year as a teacher in a university setting, with both medical students and residents. Applicants must show evidence of scholarly productivity and peer-reviewed publications of original studies related to medical education.
In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
*Note: Board certification in Internal Medicine must be completed within two years after residency.
