Job Summary:

The Department of Planning and Landscape Architecture invites applications for a tenure-track, assistant professor position in landscape architecture. Candidates with substantial teaching experience and published scholarship may be eligible for appointment at the associate professor level with tenure. This is a 9-month, academic year, full-time position with responsibilities for teaching, research, and service:
Teaching (typically four courses per year / two per semester): one or two design studios in the accredited BLA program and, depending on the successful candidate's expertise and interests, courses supporting the department's undergraduate and/or graduate degree programs.
Research: disciplinary research and/or practice-based scholarship that advances knowledge and has the potential to inform evidence-based practice in planning, design, or management of the built environment.
Service: serving on department and campus committees, in relevant disciplinary initiatives, and engaging with stakeholders, communities, or governments locally, regionally, or internationally.

Required
The following degrees are required: A master's degree (e.g., landscape architecture, urban planning, architecture, or allied field) and a Landscape Architectural Accreditation Board (LAAB) accredited professional degree in landscape architecture (either the BSLA, BLA, or MLA). Applications are also welcome from candidates who have a PhD, DDes, or are ABD.

Three or more years of professional practice experience is preferred.

The Department of Planning and Landscape Architecture has a diverse, multidisciplinary faculty with expertise and interests that include urban planning and design, land use policy, ecological restoration, and community health, resilience, and sustainability. We offer two undergraduate degrees - an LAAB-accredited BLA and a BS/BA in Landscape and Urban Studies; two master's degrees: a PAB-accredited MSURP and a research-based MSLA with an option for ecological restoration specialization; and a PhD in Urban and Regional Planning. Courses in our department serve a broad range of students from degree and certificate programs across campus.
