 The Heart and Vascular Institute of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center seeks a non-invasive cardiologist with advanced imaging skills for a faculty position in the Echocardiography Laboratory in our main academic medical campus at Presbyterian Hospital. This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate seeking an academic career in cardiology and echocardiography. The Echo laboratory is IAC-accredited and is high quality, high volume laboratory with state of the art equipment. A new state of the art echocardiography laboratory is scheduled to open in early 2018. Imaging responsibilities will primarily focus upon offering a full spectrum of echocardiographic services including transthoracic, stress (dobutamine, treadmill and bicycle) and transesophageal echocardiography. The position also includes a leadership opportunity to direct the 20 HVI outpatient echocardiography laboratories in the HVI practice region outside of Presbyterian University Hospital. The Section of Non-Invasive Imaging includes 10 cardiologists who divide their time between noninvasive imaging, providing direct patient care, as well as teaching and clinical research. Our collaborative heart-team based approach allows one to practice advanced imaging in a highly satisfying academic environment. A large collegial group of cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, cardiac anesthesiologists and radiologists are dedicated to patient-centered excellence supporting structural heart programs including TAVR, MitraClip, Left atrial appendage occlusion, ASD/PFO, mitral balloon commissurotomy programs. The echo lab supports a very active CHF/transplant team including LVAD mechanical support and an Adult congenital cardiac clinic Opportunities exist for collaboration with state-of-the art cardiac programs in cardiovascular clinical care and research, MR, CT and nuclear imaging Secondary clinical responsibilities include: • Developing an outpatient practice focusing on general cardiology • Attending on the cardiology inpatient or consult services leading teams composed of fellows, resident and medical students. FACULTY APPOINTMENT Open rank (Assistant, Associate, or Professor) appointment to the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. As a faculty Cardiologist you will be involved in both clinical and teaching activities. Provide service as designated by the Chief of cardiology to the Department and School of Medicine, attend departmental faculty meetings, grand rounds, and other functions. ACGME-approved general cardiology, interventional, electrophysiology and noninvasive fellowship programs complement the program. Participate in clinical research programs to enhance the quality and safety of patient care. Qualifications • Applicants should have completed a Fellowship in Cardiology and be board certified in Cardiology. Level 2 or 3 training in echocardiography and board eligible or certified in Echocardiography. • Candidates should have experience in advanced echocardiographic techniques, including transesophageal and stress echocardiography, echocardiography during interventional procedures, 30 echocardiography, and strain imaging. • The ideal candidate will be academically inclined with interest in echocardiography research. • The candidate should have excellent clinical skills and be to actively participate in medical education at the fellow, resident, medical student and sonographer level. • Applicants must have an M.D or M.D./Ph.D. degree. • Pennsylvania licensed or eligible to obtain a Pennsylvania license. Compensation GI The faculty rank and track is dependent upon qualifications. • Salary will be commensurate with experience and training.
