Med-Critical Care Medicine - Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh - (18001697)
 

The Division of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine, Department of Critical Care Medicine, University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, seeks early career clinician-scientist for K-track Assistant Professor position. Candidate must be board certified or board eligible in pediatric critical care medicine.

 

UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh is a 296-bed hospital serving 5 million people. The patient population includes virtually every child in the region suffering life-threatening illness or injury. In addition to having the full range of medical subspecialties and active cardiothoracic surgery, neurosurgery, and other subspecialty surgery programs, the hospital is an international center for liver, small bowel, multi-visceral, heart, and lung transplantation. An active ECMO program cares for children with severe respiratory and/or circulatory failure. An established primary pediatric neurocritical service provides integrated care for patients with neurological injury and disease. Overall, over 2700 patients are admitted each year to the 36-bed pediatric intensive care unit (PICU).

 

Demonstration of academic productivity and a planned path toward independent research in the future are highly desirable, as opportunities for innovative basic science, clinical, health services, data science, and education research are plentiful. The division has particular strengths and federally funded programs in neuroscience, neurocritical care, sepsis and multiple organ dysfunction syndrome, nephrology, genetics, resuscitation, bioinformatics, and health services research. Collaborative opportunities and resources for both clinical and laboratory research abound at the University of Pittsburgh.

 

The training program in pediatric critical care medicine is internationally renowned, offering opportunities for teaching and mentoring. Participation in educational activities for trainees is mandatory.
