Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
Public Policy is an interdisciplinary social science major designed to provide students with the theoretical perspective, analytical skill, and substantive knowledge needed to respond to major domestic and global policy problems. A double major in Public Policy and a related social science or professional school is common.
Position Summary
The Department of Public Policy at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill invites applicants to apply for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor rank with a focus on teaching in our inaugural MPP and the interdisciplinary Carolina Graduate Certificate in Innovation for the Public Good (CIPG).
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Ph.D. in public policy, business, management, organizational theory, strategy, social entrepreneurship; sustainability, sociology, or philosophy.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Priority will be given to candidates with research, teaching, and/or professional experience focusing on one or more of the following areas: organizational theory; strategic management; business & public policy; and operations management with expertise in, but not limited to business and society; business ethics; corporate social responsibility (CSR); sustainability and/or environment social governance (ESG); corporate social justice & racial and/or gender equity; public benefit & certified B corporations; cross-sector collaboration; and social innovation. The selected candidate will maintain an active program of research and teach courses in the BA, MPP, CIPG, and Ph.D. program. UNC Public Policy is an academic unit within the College of Arts & Sciences. Additional affiliation is possible with Shuford Program in Entrepreneurship. For more on Innovation at Carolina, see here. We are interested in candidates who hold a professional degree (MPP, MBA, or similar) and/or equivalent professional experience in addition to a doctoral degree.
