Job Description Summary:
Provide medical care for clinic and hospitalized patients at the University of Kansas Health System as well as contribute to various research, educational and clinical initiatives related to areas of individual interest and expertise. Serve in a clinician educator role with responsibility for education of fellows, residents, medical students and other learners.

Required Qualifications:
  • Board certified in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases Training. Infectious Diseases board certification within one year of appointment. Kansas medical license.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Infectious Diseases clinical patient care and research. Experience and interest in Transplant Infectious Diseases is preferred but not required.


Job Duties Outlined:

  • Perform in-patient attending consultation rounds in rotation with other faculty members. Maintain a weekly ID ambulatory clinic with potential for general infectious diseases population and specialist populations based on individual interest and expertise.  Patient care duties may involve training medical students, residents, fellows or other learners.
     

  • Provide formal educational instruction by consistently attending and presenting at key Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases conferences including but not limited to Core Curriculum, Case Conference, Journal Club, Patient Safety, Clinical Pathological Conferences and Antimicrobial Stewardship. Provide specialty content updates emphasizing pathophysiology, clinical and diagnostics principles and emerging therapeutic interventions. Support other University teaching activities as identified by the Director.
     

  • Participate in formal scholarship activities including but not limited to mentorship of housestaff and student academic projects, conduction and dissemination of scientific discoveries, participation in Divisional and Institutional scholarship activities with an emphasis on specialty areas of  expertise and to continually foster an environment of learning and discover
     

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Chair of Medicine or the Director of Infectious Diseases Division.
