The Department of Psychology has an opening for a full-time tenure-track position at the level of Assistant Professor to begin August 2022. We are seeking an outstanding scholar and teacher with expertise in Multicultural Psychology/Diversity Science. Applicants are expected to have a strong record of research productivity and potential to secure extramural funding and to teach undergraduate and graduate courses and participate in service activities. The successful applicant will join 18 tenure track faculty members and 8 non-tenure track faculty members in the department. In addition to colleagues within the department and the University of Colorado Denver campus, the Anschutz Medical Campus provides rich opportunities for collaboration. We are particularly interested in applicants with expertise to teach Diversity in Clinical Psychology at the graduate level and Psychology of Diversity and Introduction to Psychology as well as other courses in their area of interest at the undergraduate level.

Position Emphasis:

This is a position for a psychologist with scholarly and pedagogical interests in diversity, equity, and inclusion. Specifically, we seek candidates with a demonstrated expertise in teaching, mentoring, and research that addresses the experience of the minoritized. Applicants with one or more of the following focus areas are encouraged to apply (though not limited to): multicultural psychology, social determinants of health, intersectionality, discrimination, implicit bias, health disparities and equity, poverty, intergenerational trauma, racial identity development, structural racism and inter-group processes. We are particularly interested in a program of research that addresses culture, ethnicity, race, sexual orientation, gender diversity, immigration status, socio-economic status, age, geographic location (e.g., urban, rural), and/or (dis)ability. This position is on the downtown Denver campus. It is a 9 month academic appointment with 40% teaching, 40% research, and 20% service expectations.

Salary and Benefits:

The budgeted hiring range for this position has been established at $70,000 - $74,000 with an additional, generous start-up package.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

Qualifications

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • PhD in Psychology or closely related field from an accredited institution or an ABD with a set date for when the PhD will be successfully earned.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Publications in academic journal
  • Presentations at national conferences
  • Record of extramural funding
  • Experience teaching courses in Diversity at the undergraduate and graduate level

Required Competencies:

  • Potential to develop a strong research program
  • Commitment to excellence in teaching
