Job Description

Primarily responsible for the teaching/learning process and will also participate in the necessary operations of the institution.; Work hours: Mon-Fri; 8 AM-5 PM or as work and teaching requirements indicate. This position is a nine-month, tenured-tracked position, requiring the Assistant Professor to teach 18 hours (FTE -49.5% Teaching and teaching services, 40% Research, and 10.5% Service).

The Department of Mathematics at Tarleton State University invites applications for one position with the rank of assistant professor beginning in Fall 2023.  This position is based on the main campus in Stephenville, TX and carries a standard 3/3 teaching load with potential for grant-funded reductions as well as for supervision of doctoral dissertations.

The position is open to candidates in areas of pure and applied mathematics who can contribute to our undergraduate and graduate programs. The position will have a preference for candidates with expertise in data science and interest in teaching and mentoring students at all levels, especially doctoral candidates.

A doctorate degree in mathematics awarded before the beginning of the Fall 2023 semester is required. ABD status may be considered as long as all degree requirements, including dissertation, defense of dissertation, and comprehensive examinations, have been successfully completed by time of appointment- September 1, 2023.
