Position Summary
The Biology Department at LaSalle University is seeking applications for a full-time, tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin August 2022. La Salle University is a liberal-arts undergraduate-focused institution with a diverse student body. The ideal candidate will be specialized in a cellular/molecular aspects of biological systems and utilize cell culture and biotechnology to investigate fundamental research questions. The candidate will be expected to teach introductory biology courses and courses in their area of expertise such as cell biology, cancer biology, recombinant DNA technology, biotechnology, quantitative biology, and translational science. We welcome candidates whose experience in research, teaching, and service has prepared them to contribute to La Salle’s commitment to diversity, inclusion, and excellence. 
  
The review of applications will begin February 7, 2022, and will continue until the position is filled. it is anticipated this person will start in mid-August for the Fall 2022 semester.
Essential Duties
● Development and instruction of new and existing courses that may include cell biology, cancer biology, recombinant DNA technology, biotechnology, quantitative biology, and translational science  
● Involve undergraduates in research projects 
● Academic advisement and mentoring of Biology majors/minors 
● Engagement in professional activities and internal/external collaborations that keep the faculty member abreast of new developments and trends in their home disciplines of expertise and interest
  • Serve on appropriate University committees
Secondary Responsibilities
● Participation in student recruitment activities of the university 
● Participation/coordination of departmental social media activities 
● Supervision and management of departmental laboratory, supplies, spaces, and equipment important to your research
Required Qualifications
● An earned Ph.D. in a related field and a strong enthusiasm for teaching at the undergraduate level and student professional development 
● A demonstrated interest in interdisciplinary work and collaboration across disciplinary 
boundaries 
● A demonstrated commitment to innovative and evidence-based teaching practices, or to successful collaborative work and programming that enriches the educational experience 
● A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the classroom and/or 
professional practice 
● Knowledge of and commitment to the mission of La Salle University
Preferred Qualifications
