POSITION AVAILABLE:  The Department of Teacher Education at Fort Hays State University invites applicants for appointment to a 9-month, tenure-track position at the level of Assistant Professor of Teacher Education.

JOB DESCRIPTION: Assistant Professor position to teach education coursework to undergraduate candidates. The successful candidate must be committed to excellence in undergraduate instruction, participate in the department's distance learning activities, participate in internship supervision, and contribute to advising, scholarship and service components of the College of Education. Information about the Department of Teacher Education is available at


  • Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Science Education, Curriculum & Instruction or a related field from a regionally accredited institution. 
  • A minimum of 3 consecutive years teaching experience in a public school in the U.S.
  • Hold a current (or expired) state teaching license in the U.S.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. at time of appointment.


  • Experience teaching science at the K-12 level.
  • Knowledge of current research and best practices related to K-6 science education.
  • Knowledge of Next Generation Science Standards.
  • Experience teaching at the higher education level.
  • Experience teaching online courses and on-campus courses.

RANK:  Assistant Professor of Teacher Education. This is an on-campus position.

APPOINTMENT DATE:  Fall of 2019.


SALARY: Salary dependent upon qualifications
