Position Summary
The Department of Clinical Sciences at Colorado State University seeks applications for a 12-month non-tenure track Assistant Professor in Small Animal Internal Medicine.
The Small Animal Internal Medicine position is responsible for the management of the Small Animal Internal Medicine caseload at the VTH. This position will support both clinical and didactic teaching in the DVM program, graduate student/resident and fellow training, and research in Small Animal Internal Medicine. The position also supports an important clinical service in the Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH) both in terms of client service and revenue generation. This faculty position will provide up to 36 weeks of clinical service. Additionally, we expect the successful candidate will develop an independent impactful research program and participate in collaborative research. Numerous opportunities for collaborative research exist throughout the college and university.

Required Job Qualifications
  • DVM or equivalent veterinary professional degree.
  • Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine
  • Minimum three (3) years expertise in clinical service and instruction of veterinary students and residents and demonstrated ability to work with others in a team atmosphere. 
Preferred Job Qualifications
  • Preference will be given to candidates with an advanced degree and/or postdoctoral research experience.

  • Didactic: Provide lecture and laboratory instruction on topics related to equine critical care throughout the veterinary curriculum.

  • Research effort will include independent and collaborative research with other departmental faculty and initiation and participation in veterinary clinical trials. Scholarly activity will include publication of high impact original research. 
  • Professional and lay publications (e.g. book chapters) in the discipline of Small Animal Internal Medicine will also contribute to this category.

  • Clinical Service: Provide up to 36 weeks of clinical activity in the Small Animal Internal Medicine unit. 
  • Outreach: Provide phone and/or email consultation for veterinarians in Colorado and other states. Develop and participate in continuing education programs for veterinarians at Colorado State University and other locations. 
  • Administrative: Participate in Departmental, College, and University administrative committees as well as active participation in the organization and implementation of the goals for the Small Animal Internal Medicine of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital.
