Position Description:
The Department of Human Development and Family Studies (HDFS) at Colorado State University (CSU) invites applicants for a tenure-track assistant professor position in rural mental and behavioral health. CSU is launching an interdisciplinary mental and behavioral health initiative in which we will build on existing strengths across multiple programs (e.g., HDFS, Occupational Therapy, Social Work, Health and Exercise Science, Psychology) to develop new degree programs and training options, build interdisciplinary research programs that involve new and innovative approaches to mental and behavioral health, and engage with communities to co-create solutions to mental and behavioral health challenges. To jumpstart this initiative, we are launching a multi-college cluster hire of 10-12 positions over the next two years to address core issues of mental and behavioral health, with special emphasis on the treatment and prevention of depression, suicide, addictions, and trauma, toward the broad goal of fostering resilience and promoting wellness. The cluster hire is informed by our land-grant mission to serve the state, and through it, we are committed to serving and engaging rural and historically underserved populations. With this initiative, we will create a future-oriented approach to mental and behavioral health wellness. This initiative will include evidenced approaches to workforce development, interventions in service and program delivery, and community partnerships alleviating challenges in service access.
