Position:

The department of Business Law at California State University, Northridge (CSUN) is seeking a tenure-track faculty member in Real Estate at the rank of Assistant Professor.

The successful candidate will teach various courses in the Real Estate program, which may include Real Estate Appraisal, Real Estate Finance, Real Estate Market and Development Analysis, Property Management, Real Estate Practice, Real Estate Principles, and Negotiation. and have research interests in topics related to real estate which may include real estate finance, asset valuation, real estate economics, market analysis, and others.

In addition to teaching, the position requires weekly office hours, attending faculty meetings, participation in assessment of student learning, and service to the department, college, and university. The successful candidate will be held to the standards and requirements of the college and department in which he/she/they is/are housed for recommending tenure and promotion. Given CSUN’s commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and engagement in a diverse environment, the successful candidate will help the Department achieve equitable academic outcomes for all students through teaching, student mentorship, scholarship, and service.

Required Qualifications:  

•           Ph.D. or other terminal degree in real estate, finance, or economics, or a related field from an accredited institution at the time of appointment

•           College or University-level teaching experience, either in-person or online

•           Evidence of, or clear potential for, excellence in teaching some or all of the following courses at the undergraduate and graduate level: Real Estate Appraisal, Real Estate Finance, Real Estate Market and Development Analysis, Real Estate Practice, Real Estate Principles, and Negotiation

•           Evidence that the candidate will meet, and, after appointment, will continue to maintain current AACSB International "Scholarly Academic" Standards of qualification at date of appointment

Preferred Qualifications:

•           Evidence of effective engagement OR potential to engage with a diverse student body

•           Experience using culturally responsive pedagogy that leads to equitable outcomes for all students

•           Experience creating a student-centered learning environment, including active and interactive learning

•           Research/Lab experience that includes working with students from diverse backgrounds 

•           Experience adopting inclusive approaches to mentoring

•           Has or is willing to obtain an appraisal and/or real estate license

•           Ability to engage in community and industry activities furthering the university's role in the field

•           Ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively to support the Business Law department's expanding real estate program, which is currently growing both in student enrollment and class offerings
