Primary Purpose and Essential Functions
Primary areas of responsibility include active participation in both graduate and pre-doctoral teaching, research, patient care and service. 
1.      Didactic and clinical teaching on 3D imaging for both post-graduate residents and dental students
2.      Provide CBCT interpretation and report for orthodontic patients and associated consultation with the residents and faculty
3.      Attend designated Craniofacial panels in San Francisco Bay Area, including those at Children’s Hospital, Oakland, and Kaiser Hospital.
4.      Supervise residents providing orthodontic care of patients with craniofacial anomalies
5.      Supervise or participate in orthodontic resident’s craniofacial research projects 
6.      Service to the dental school and professional community through participation in committees, school-wide activities, and local and  regional professional organizations.
Department of Diagnostic Sciences:
                                                                        
1.  Deliver didactic Radiology curriculum for DDS, IDS, DH, and post-graduate programs.
2.   Interface and consult  with all Radiology service users within the school to insure optimal safety, diagnostic quality, and efficient services to in house users
3.  As Content Coordinator, for Radiology set standards of care for School of Dentistry and oversee faculty and staff development as needed, particularly around new technology, equipment,  protocol and calibration.
4.  Ensure that the school’s equipment is state-of-the-art and well maintained and that appropriate radiographic safety records are maintained.
 
A.  Departmental courses to assist in providing content:
·         DS 160 Dental Radiology (didactic) for both DDS and IDS First Year students
·         DS 166 Dental Radiology (clinical) for both DDS and IDS First Year students
·         DS 266 Clinical Dental Radiology Rotations for both DDS and IDS Second Year students
·         DS 460 Radiology for Endodontic residents
·         DH 113 Dental Oral Radiology (didactic) for Dental Hygiene First Year students
·         DH 118 Dental Oral Radiology (clinical) for Dental Hygiene First Year students
B.  In addition to the traditional expectations for faculty members, the culture of humanism and collaboration at the Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry is especially important. There are also specific expectations the school has for your unique contributions to our programs.
i.  Patient care
·         Participate in Radiology clinical consultation services: refine process, protocol, tracking, and follow-up, including with referral sources, if needed.
·         Collaborate and coordinate with Radiology faculty and technicians/ staff to provide ideal patient care and student learning.
·         Ensure that our school’s equipment is state-of-the-art and well maintained.
·         Confirm that the School’s Quality Assurance protocols are being followed in Radiology Services.
C   The 5th day faculty practice will require the reading of CBCT images and production of appropriate CBCT reports on a schedule to be determined by the Chairs of Diagnostic Sciences and Orthodontics.  In addition, 2 days out of the 5 days are also designated as CBCT report days which is to be included in salary structure, not in addition. 
Minimum Qualifications
 1.     DMD/DDS or equivalent and an Orthodontic Certificate 
2.      Certificate of Craniofacial Orthodontics fellowship
3.      Completion of a specialty program in Radiology; board eligible
4.      Current dental license
5.      Current CPR certification
6.      Master of Science degree or its equivalent. 
7.      Minimum of three years of experience in research activities and/or have a PhD degree.
8.      Minimum three years of orthodontic private practice experience for clinical instruction and supervision of patient care.
9.      Knowledge of: 
•                    Curriculum management as it relates to 3D imaging and craniofacial orthodontics
•                    Clinical management of all types of adult and adolescent orthodontic malocclusions, craniofacial anomalies patients, orthognathic surgery patients, and most widely used fixed appliances in current use. 
•                    Competency based education and assessment
•                    Modern pedagogical concepts and application in orthodontic education

 Position requires alternate walking, standing, and sitting.
 May require standing for long periods of time dependent upon patient/clinic needs.
 Reaching and handling of dental instruments.
 May be requested to assist with temporary physical restraint of patients in emergency situations.
 Occasional pushing, pulling; occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs.
 Occupational exposure to blood borne pathogens may reasonably be anticipated. Personal protective equipment is expected to reduce or eliminate exposure to routine or limited infectious agents.
