Primary Purpose and Essential Functions:
The Department of Psychology in the College of the Pacific at the University of the Pacific invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning either in January 2024 or August 2024, depending on the availability of the candidate.
The Department of Psychology is housed in the College, a liberal arts and sciences college within the University. Our faculty are dedicated teachers, mentors and advisors who value collaboration and who develop innovative pedagogies to enhance student learning in addition to engaging actively in scholarship and service. We are excited to welcome new colleagues who are eager to be part of our vibrant academic community and to contribute to the College's growth and development.
The Psychology Department specializes in Health-Related and Applied areas of Psychology, and we are looking for faculty members whose expertise will both compliment and expand those of the current faculty. We are especially interested in applicants who have expertise in one or more of the following areas: Behavioral Gerontology, Behavioral Pharmacology, Behavioral Safety, Workplace Health and Wellbeing, Behavioral Economics, Adult or Child Behavioral Health, Autism and Developmental Disabilities.

• The primary responsibilities will include teaching two courses per semester (four courses per academic year) in our undergraduate and graduate psychology programs within the liberal arts college of the University, developing and maintaining an active research program, supervising undergraduate and graduate research, and participating in shared faculty governance.

• The courses taught will be a mixture of undergraduate and graduate courses related to the candidate's area of expertise. Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students.

• Faculty in the Psychology department teach a 2-2 course load and are expected to actively engage undergraduate students in their research, maintain a strong research program, and participate in the department and university community through service. Qualified candidates should have experience teaching a diverse population and a demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion.

• The Department of Psychology consists of 7 full-time faculty that provide coursework in theoretical and research foundations of psychology, with intensive student involvement in research and applied experiences. Psychology is one of the largest majors in the University. The Department also houses a Masters Degree program focused on Applied Behavior Analysis and Doctoral Preparation for Behaviorally-Oriented Clinical Psychology Ph.D. programs. The graduate program has an ABAI Verified Course Sequence and students work in clinical settings in which they can receive supervised BCBA hours. Minimum Qualifications:

• PhD in Psychology or related field. May consider an applicant who will complete their PhD by the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
• Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
• Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.
