Job Summary


The Early Childhood Education Assistant Professor/Program Coordinator will play a crucial role in the department's mission to provide high-quality teaching, service, and research. Responsibilities include undergraduate and graduate-level teaching, course and curriculum development, engagement in research activities, participation in departmental and university committees, technology skills, and other duties as assigned.

Job Description

Typical duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Delivering undergraduate and graduate courses in early childhood education and related subject areas.
  • Developing and enhancing the curriculum to meet program goals.
  • Engaging in research activities and publications.
  • Serving on departmental and university committees.
  • Collaborating with colleagues within and outside the university.
  • Contributing to the development of innovative teaching methods.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Additional Job Description

Required Qualifications:

  • An earned doctorate in early childhood education or a closely related field.
  • ABD will be considered if degree is conferred by August 7, 2024. If successful candidate is ABD, appointment will be made at a Lecturer level on a fixed contract until degree is conferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise in early childhood curriculum development.
  • Experience teaching with young children in educational environments.
  • Experience with Early childhood center program leadership/administration experience.
  • Experience with research-informed teaching and field-based learning.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in curriculum development.
  • Previous work in collaborative educational initiatives.
  • Familiarity with educational technology and distance learning.
  • Record of academic scholarship and service to the community.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of best practices in early childhood education and care.
  • Skills in strong communication and collaboration.
  • Ability to use educational technology.
