Assistant Professor - Probability and Stochastic Processes

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Auburn University is seeking to fill a nine-month tenure-track Assistant Professor position to begin August 16, 2021. Duties include establishing an independent research program in Mathematics and teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels. An earned doctorate in Mathematics by the appointment start date is required and applicants should have strong evidence of teaching and research ability in Mathematics. Postdoctoral research experience is desired. Successful candidates are expected to be able to communicate effectively in English. Excellent writing and interpersonal skills are required.

We seek applicants who specialize in Probability Theory and Stochastic Processes, with proven expertise in Mathematical Finance or Applications in Science or Engineering or in teaching undergraduate courses in interdisciplinary areas such as Actuarial Science.

The department has a PhD program and various MS programs, including a new MS program in Data Science. It has over 50 mathematicians/statisticians and more than 120 graduate students engaged in research in a wide variety of areas in mathematics and statistics.
