Job Description

The Political Science Department at the University of Nevada, Reno is soliciting applications for a tenure-track, full time appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor in Political Science to begin in the fall semester of 2018. The primary focus of our search is American Political Behavior. Preference will be given to candidates conducting quantitative research in public opinion, voting behavior, political parties, and/or media, though candidates with a comparative perspective will be given consideration. Duties include undergraduate and graduate teaching, research, and service to the University.

The normal teaching load is 2 courses per semester, but may be subject to change. Candidates are expected to teach at all levels of the curriculum (lower division undergraduate, upper division undergraduate, and graduate MA/PhD). Candidates must be able to teach an introduction to American Politics course. Applicants should demonstrate a strong potential for research publication. Experience with external grant funding is a plus.

Required Qualifications

Applicants must have Ph.D. in Political Science or related field by August 15th, 2018.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates whose research demonstrates methodological sophistication and who have the ability to teach research methodology at the graduate, MA/Ph.D. level.
