The Moores School of Music seeks candidates for a tenure-track position in Piano and Piano Pedagogy at the Assistant Professor level, for appointment September 1, 2019.
The primary responsibilities of this position include teaching courses in piano pedagogy and coordinating practicum teaching experiences for piano pedagogy students.
Applicants for this position should also be prepared to: Further evolve the piano pedagogy program and teach classes related to this area. Pursue an active program of scholarly research and publication in the field of piano pedagogy, especially as it relates to the Moores Lab for Research in Music Education and Pedagogy. Recruit and retain excellent piano pedagogy students while working toward establishing the Moores School of Music as a leading institution for the study of piano pedagogy. Serve as the Faculty Affiliate in Piano for the Preparatory and Continuing Studies Division and direct the practicum teaching of pedagogy students. Collaborate with the Coordinator of Class Piano to oversee that area. Teach applied piano to undergraduate and graduate students, demonstrating a broad knowledge of the piano repertoire. Oversee, working with the Director of the Moores School of Music, renovation and development of the Moores Lab for Research in Music Education and Pedagogy.
The emerging piano pedagogy program at the Moores School of Music, combined with its excellent piano performance program, music education program, and collaborative keyboard arts program, offers the complete spectrum of keyboard education to students who hail from all over the world. With its diverse coursework, scholarly training, and practical application through collaboration with our Preparatory and Continuing Studies Division and outreach opportunities, the piano pedagogy program fulfills an integral role in the success of our school.
With over 500 students and nearly 100 faculty, the Moores School of Music within the Kathrine G.
