Posting Text | The Department of Physics, at the University of South Dakota (USD), invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor working in particle, nuclear, astro-physics or related fields, with a preferred starting date of Fall 2024. With its proximity to the Sanford Underground Research Facility (SURF), USD Physics has a focus on underground science, with the majority of our faculty members working in the areas of neutrino physics, nuclear physics, and particle astrophysics. USD Physics is involved in underground experiments and collaborations such as the COHERENT, DUNE, GEMADARC, LEGEND, LUX/LZ, and SuperCDMS. USD plays a leading role in the development of germanium-based experiments as the only US university growing high-purity Ge crystals and making Ge detectors. The successful candidate will be expected to teach both undergraduate and graduate classes in face-to-face and online environments. Qualifications: - PhD in Physics or closely related field is required. - Preference for experience using AI and data sciences to complement our Big-Data Analytics program. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. This position is subject to final budgetary approval by the University.
