Job Summary
 

Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a full-time, tenure track faculty position as Assistant Professor of Theatre and Performance Studies in the Department of Theatre and Performance Studies with a preferred start date of August 2024. This is a nine-month contracted position.


Responsibilities
 
  • Teach 3-3 course load in area of specialization. 
  • Teach courses at all levels of the performance studies curriculum, including Introduction to Performance Studies, Performing Literature, and other Theatre and Performance Studies electives.
  • Develop community-based projects with external partners. 
  • Engage in service on Departmental, College, and University level committees.
  • Support the production season through the area of their expertise - this could be directing, performance, coaching, design, dramaturgy, applied theatre, or another creative capacity; this may include mentorship of students in these capacities.
  • Maintain an active program of scholarship and creative activity in addition to their other responsibilities. 
  • Work with other faculty in the Department to recruit and support new students.

Required Qualifications
 
  • A terminal MFA or PhD degree, or the foreign equivalent, in Performance Studies or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated record of excellence in undergraduate teaching.
  • Established record of scholarship and creative activity. 
  • Demonstrated record of commitment to creating an educational community for all students.
  • Successful experience engaging in consensus-based collaboration with students, staff, and faculty. 
     

Preferred Qualifications
 
  • Demonstrated record of support of undergraduate research and creative activity mentorship, applied theatre, community-based projects, or other projects that promote student success.
  • Previous experience leading student ensembles and/or performance groups.
  • Evidence of performance practice including, but not limited to, solo-performance, storytelling, literary adaptation, devised theater, directing, digital performance, and performance art.
  • Previous record of active involvement in professional and service organizations prominent in field.
