Job Description

The Department of Psychology and Communication at Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) seeks two (2) Assistant Professors of Psychology (tenure-track, 9-month position) to begin Fall 2022. Duties include teaching of undergraduate and graduate courses. A reduced load (2-2 for the first two years) is provided to allow for other duties, such as publishing research in psychology or closely related areas, and serving on departmental, University, and professional committees.

Required Qualifications:

The successful candidate must hold an earned doctorate in Psychology or closely related fields.  ABDs will also be considered, but must have earned a doctorate before appointment. TAMIU invites applicants with a specialization in Bilingualism/Cognitive Science, for one position, and Evolutionary Psychology for the second. We are looking for candidates who will strengthen our faculty in the foundational areas of experimental psychology and bilingual cognition, also contributing to elevate the interdisciplinary profile of our department.

We desire candidates who: (1) have a strong record of, or potential for, sustained publication in peer-reviewed journals (commensurate with experience); (2) have the potential for or prior experience seeking and/or securing external grant funding; (3) have a strong desire to work with diverse student populations; and, (4) have the ability to teach in areas that complement and strengthen our undergraduate and graduate psychology programs.

TAMIU is a growing university of over 8,000 students located in Laredo, Texas, a vibrant bi-lingual, bi-cultural city with a population of about 260,000 on the U.S./Mexico border.
