Job Description

Friends University invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor position in Psychology to begin in fall 2023.  This position is a tenure-track, nine-month appointment with major responsibility in the psychology program. Rank and salary are commensurate with education and experience.

EXPECTATIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES 

·         Teaching introductory through senior-level psychology courses, including experiential learning courses, particularly those related to human services and clinical psychology.

·         Developing and teaching cross-disciplinary courses that can complement other social science majors.  

·         Demonstrate both a passion for and effectiveness in teaching with a strong commitment to undergraduate student engagement and success.  

·         Participation and leadership in appointed committee assignments as well as student advising, recruitment, and retention activities.  

·         Work with social science faculty and other stakeholders on the ongoing assessment and development of the psychology program and other affiliated programs.    

·         Outreach to human service and social service agencies in the wider community. 

·         Participation and leadership with student organizations. 


Skills & Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. in Psychology, Human Services or a closely related field from an accredited institution.  Candidates with a Master’s degree and a significant amount of professional experience may also be considered, with the understanding that they would pursue a doctoral degree if hired for the position.   

Positive consideration will be given to practical experience in the field, experience in multicultural settings, a demonstrated ability to build and maintain professional relationships, and evidence of research.
