THE DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHOLOGY AT WASHINGTON STATE UNIVERSITY invites applications for a full-time continuous career-track position at the rank of Scholarly Assistant Professor on the Vancouver, WA campus. Scholarly Assistant Professors are expected to teach exceptionally well, meaningfully contribute to the culture of the department, and add value to the undergraduate experience. This is a promotion-eligible position with a continuous appointment. The successful applicant will be a scholar in any area of industrial/organizational psychology who is strongly committed to developing quality educational experiences while also being deeply interested in mentoring and outreach practices and contributing to campus diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts.  It is anticipated that the successful candidate will begin the appointment on August 16, 2023.

Job duties: Duties include: 60% instruction, teaching three courses/semester; 20% departmental, university, and professional service; and 20% scholarly activity (e.g., research/scholarship, educational leadership, outreach, practice, or other creative activity).

The position involves a focus on developing high-impact applied undergraduate educational experiences, including teaching our undergraduate practicum course, and contributing to the growth of the Personnel Psychology/Human Resources program. Opportunities for graduate teaching and mentoring also exist. 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Earned Ph.D. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology or closely related field obtained prior to employment start date

  • Evidence of successful teaching ability at the undergraduate level and a commitment to mentoring students from diverse backgrounds

  • Demonstrated commitment to campus diversity efforts, social justice, and inclusion (https://www.vancouver.wsu.edu/strategic-plan )

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrated ability to develop community engagement and authentic learning opportunities for undergraduate students

  • Experience successfully teaching industrial/organizational coursework (e.g., industrial psychology, organizational psychology, diversity in the workplace, etc.) at the undergraduate and/or graduate level
