Position Summary

Bowdoin College’s Psychology Department and Neuroscience Program invite applications for a joint, tenure-track position in behavioral neuroscience at the Assistant Professor level beginning July 1, 2020. We are especially interested in candidates specializing in social, clinical or developmental neuroscience, provided there is a clear emphasis on behavior.

Bowdoin requires a strong commitment to research and a promise of long-term successful scholarly engagement as well as a dedication to teaching excellence in a liberal arts environment. The College offers opportunities for professional development, a fully-funded, year-long junior sabbatical leave (after three years of teaching and successful reappointment), and regular, generously funded, post-tenure sabbaticals. The teaching load is three courses per year and will include a topics-level course in Physiological Psychology, upper-level laboratory and seminar courses in the area of the candidate’s expertise, and Introduction to Psychology. The successful candidate must possess a strong commitment to undergraduate education and demonstrate the potential to develop a funded, active, and productive research program that involves undergraduates. A Ph.D. in neuroscience, psychology, or a related field is required; post-doctoral research and teaching experience are preferred.
