Working Title:  Director of Bands and Music Education
Job Summary: The University of West Florida Dr. Grier Williams School of Music seeks a Instructor of Music Education and Director of Bands. This position will teach 3-4 classes per semester to include courses in music education, conducting, instrumental music, and symphonic band. Additionally, this position will manage the Music Education degree, oversee student teacher placement/supervision, and will help lead the Argo Athletic Band. They will participate in the hiring process for an OPS assistant. The successful candidate will be involved in recruiting and departmental service.

FLSA: Exempt
Minimum Qualifications: Doctoral degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, clinical supervision/direction, and service.
Position Qualifications: Completed Master’s degree in music education or an appropriate music discipline; successful K-12 teaching experience; successful experience in recruiting students and leading wind bands; experience in teaching solo repertoire; excellent communication and interpersonal skills suitable for a diverse teaching and working environment.
Preferred Qualifications Completed doctoral degree or A.B.D. status in an area appropriate to the appointment; successful college-level teaching experience; experience in teaching applied woodwind, brass or percussion; experience teaching techniques and pedagogy courses in instrumental music education.
Special Requirements or Considerations of the Job: This position requires a criminal background screen.
