Position Overview | Marquette University invites applications for a full-time instructor beginning in Fall 2024 at the rank of Assistant Professor of Practice. The position will involve teaching 3 sections per semester in BUAD 1560, Introduction to Statistics and Business Analytics (4 credits). Course Description: Introduction to statistical and business analytic methods used in the analysis of business decisions. Covers issues involving data and data collection, descriptive statistics and data visualization issues. Reviews the use of probability and probability distributions in business decisions. Introduction to sampling and sampling distributions, development of statistical estimation and statistical inference, including confidence intervals for means and proportions, analysis of variance, and various hypothesis tests. Develops correlation, simple linear regression and introduces simple time series analysis and decision analysis methods The position also requires non-teaching responsibilities as a full-time faculty member, such as advising students, serving on academic committees, and other duties consistent with the mission of the Department. |
Duties and Responsibilities | Prepare a well-organized syllabus and teaching plans that clearly reflect the program objectives and expectations, conduct well-prepared class sessions that effectively deliver the course content and engages students, administer meaningful and relevant assignments, and grade student’s work with an emphasis on student development. Department and College service expectations as discussed above. |
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities | Masters Degree preferred or substantial progress toward the terminal degree. |
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities | Ph.D. or DBA from an AACSB-accredited college of business program is preferred. |
