Description of Work
The Department of Food Science and Technology at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) is seeking applicants for a twelve-month, non-tenure track assistant/associate professor of practice position in food science and technology. The successful candidate will join a well-established and cross-functional team of instructors serving the 3+1 Dual Degree Food Science Program that exists between the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and Northwest Agricultural & Forestry University (NWAFU) in Yangling, China.
The successful candidate will be expected to develop a high-impact, nationally and internationally recognized teaching program in a self-identified area of food science and technology. It is expected that the successful candidate will integrate into the existing team including connecting with stakeholders, agency or industry partners to strengthen teaching and research programming. The successful candidate will be expected to effectively obtain and leverage external and internal support (grants, fee revenue, etc.) for teaching and research programming, mentor graduate students, publish in high-quality, high-impact peer-reviewed journals, and participate in scientific meetings and other appropriate professional activities.
As an effective scholar and citizen of a land-grant institution, the successful candidate will support the integrated mission of the Department of Food Science and Technology and translate research-based information into learner-centered products. This includes identifying issues and opportunities focused on learner needs and creating scholarly, innovative, and high-impact learning programs and tools. Other responsibilities will include serving on departmental, university, and professional committees.
Specific course assignments may be changed over time based on academic unit or program need.

Minimum Required Qualifications
  • Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Nutrition Science.
  • Demonstrated experience in higher education teaching food science and technology courses of at least two years.
  • Demonstrated experience in fungal dimorphism.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated proficiency in language other than English, particularly Mandarin.
  • Demonstrated experience in recruiting and retention activities for undergraduate students.
