Founded in 1886, Yeshiva University (YU) has a strong tradition of combining Jewish scholarship with academic excellence and achievement in the liberal arts, sciences, medicine, law, business, social work, Jewish studies, education, psychology, and more.
We are a leading global educational institution that employs 2,000 people across our various campus locations -- Wilf Campus, Beren Campus, Brookdale Center, Resnick Campus in the Bronx, the Gruss Institute in Jerusalem, the Boys High School in Manhattan and the Girls High School in Queens. From the distinguished faculty who teach here, to the dedicated staff, we work to fulfill our mission: to “bring wisdom to life” through all that we teach, by all that we do and for all those we serve. We seek to attract and retain engaged and committed individuals who contribute to an exciting working environment, where there is a sense of community and belonging, balanced with a significant cross section of people from diverse backgrounds working and studying together.
The University offers an excellent compensation package, and a broad range of employee benefit plans, including immediate participation in the University’s retirement plan.
The Department of Political Science of Yeshiva College at Yeshiva University invites applications for a tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor in American politics, beginning Fall 2018. Founded in 1928 as the undergraduate college of liberal arts and science for men of Yeshiva University, Yeshiva College embodies a unique mission: to combine Jewish learning with the study of Western and worldwide culture. Our students pursue a rigorous dual education program that combines liberal arts and sciences and pre professional studies with the study of Torah and Jewish heritage. We provide academic majors in multiple disciplines, all leading to the BA degree. Combined and joint programs are also available with the University's graduate and professional schools as well as with other leading colleges and universities.
The subfield specialization is open, but candidates with research and teaching interests in such fields as public policy, public opinion, media and politics, quantitative methods, and constitutional law are especially encouraged to apply. The department seeks a broadly trained scholar capable of teaching introductory courses plus upper-level courses in the applicant’s area of specialization. Applicants should have a commitment to both undergraduate teaching within a liberal arts environment and maintaining an active research agenda. Teaching experience and Ph.D. at the time of appointment are preferred. Salary is competitive. For full consideration, applications should be received by October 15, 2017 but applications will continue to be accepted until the position is filled.
The position will be based at Yeshiva College, the undergraduate men’s College of Yeshiva University, which is located in the Washington Heights section of New York City.
Applications should contain a cover letter, CV, evidence of teaching effectiveness, one writing sample, and three letters of recommendation. References letters should be sent to: email@example.com . All other documents should be uploaded through the Apply link on this page.
Questions about the position may be directed to Prof. Joseph Luders (firstname.lastname@example.org ).
