Position Summary

The Department of Political Science at Indiana University Bloomington invites applications for a full-time tenure track assistant professor in the field of International Relations (IR) and/or methodology beginning August 2018. We have a particular interest in scholars who will contribute to our professional reputation in empirical International Relations and our research methods courses at all levels. The College of Arts and Sciences is committed to building and supporting a diverse, inclusive, and equitable community of students and scholars.


Basic Qualifications

Candidates should demonstrate broad theoretical interests, active research agendas with the promise for publication in high-quality venues, strong teaching credentials, and proficiency in appropriate research methods. In addition to maintaining an ongoing research program, the candidate is expected to teach courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, and to participate in departmental activities.

Additional Qualifications

This position is authorized at the rank of Assistant Professor. Successful candidates who have completed their Ph.D. degree by Sept. 30, 2017 will be appointed as Assistant Professor, while Ph.D. candidates without degree in hand would be appointed as Acting Assistant Professor at a lower salary. Upon final completion of the degree by Jan. 31, 2018, the appointment would be changed to Assistant Professor at a higher salary for the spring semester. Candidates at the Associate Professor level or seeking a tenured appointment will be considered only under unusual circumstances.
