The Department of Philosophy at St. Catherine University invites applications for an Assistant Professor Philosophy full-time, 9-month non-tenure position which will also require teaching during the summer. This is for a visiting faculty member for a 1-year contract.
The undergraduate college at St. Catherine University (St. Kate’s) is one of only six U.S. institutions that is both a women’s college and a minority serving institution. Based in the Twin Cities of St. Paul and Minneapolis, MN. St. Kate’s is home to a diverse group of around 3,500 students in varying disciplines and degree levels. The Department of Philosophy offers a wide array of courses, serving both Philosophy majors and other students seeking to meet the CORE General Education requirement in the Humanities. We seek applicants who are excited about growing the program to reach more students.
Responsibilities Include:
  • To provide curriculum required across various programs in College for Women (CFW), College for Adults (CFA) and Occupational Therapy Assistant Program (OTA) and in the general education core.
  • Teaches 6 courses in Philosophy, including Biomedical Ethics. Courses are taught online and/or in-person and some will be scheduled in the summer.
  • Will teach 1 course in either The Reflective Woman or The Global Search for Justice.
  • Service to the Philosophy Department by supporting the department and engaging with faculty in department meetings and planning sessions.

Minimum Qualifications
  • PhD in Philosophy or All But Dissertation (ABD) with completion before start date.
  • Demonstrated success in teaching undergraduate Philosophy courses to a diverse student population, including Biomedical Ethics courses.
Preferred Qualifications
  • PhD in Philosophy completed and demonstrated competency in teaching Biomedical Ethics.
