Job Summary
The Department of Nursing is seeking an open rank appointment to serve as a faculty member in our Bachelor of Science in Nursing program. This is a full-time, 10-month position with a Fall 2024 appointment start date. Successful candidates are expected to have a willingness and desire to engage in program, department, college, university, and program development.
Successful candidates should also strive to maintain the mission of the Nursing Education Program, Department of Nursing and Concord University while adhering to all West Virginia RN Board, Title 19 Series 1, rules/regulations as well as adhere to the Nurse Practice Act of West Virginia. Teaching assignments are based on course availability and expertise.

Duties and Responsibilities


Duty/Responsibility
  • Prepares and delivers instruction, setting high and challenging academic standards, to students in assigned modalities (including classroom, clinical, hybrid, online, etc.)
  • Prepares instructional materials such as lectures, presentations, lab sessions, clinical and cooperative arrangements
  • Uses various learning assessments to evaluate student mastery of course and program outcomes
  • Provides feedback on student’s progress, in a timely manner, to facilitate academic success
  • Prepares and submits required documentation including course syllabi, student attendance, final course grades and other information as requested or required by the university
  • Maintains professional development/growth according to personal needs and requirements for certification.
  • Participates in appropriate committees and task forces as assigned; may be assigned duties as an academic advisor; faculty advisor to a student club or organization; work in the Academic Skills Center; and/or mentoring other faculty
  • Performs other job-related duties and projects as assigned in support of the University’s mission, core values and goals.

Education/Knowledge


Minimum Education Master's
Required Licenses/Certification
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
· Master’s Degree in Nursing or advanced nurse practitioner
· Current licensure as a Registered Nurse
· Eligible to obtain an unrestricted West Virginia License
· 3-5 years of clinical practice and/or classroom experience
PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS
· Doctorate Degree in Nursing required for tenure-track appointment
· Experience in new program development
· Experience in policy and procedure development
· The ideal candidate will be dually experienced as both an academic and clinical provider. Two or more years of teaching experience preferred.
· Strong collegial and collaborative skills
· Experience teaching online courses
· Experience as a preceptor in a nationally accredited program
· Working knowledge of national accreditation practices and policies
Required Skills
  • Design learning opportunities that promote student life skills development while enhancing discipline learning
  • Develop and implement diverse teaching and learning strategies that accommodate the learning styles of students and that promote both acquisition and applications of knowledge and understanding
  • Use consistent, timely formative and summative assessment measures to enhance learning
  • Design learning opportunities that acknowledge, draw upon and are enriched by student diversity in the learning environment
  • Design and implement curriculum that aligns elements of student learning toward growth in the Student Core Competencies and progression through course sequences
  • Proficient use of personal computers and general office software
